Gulf Intervention Society (GIS) Leads the Way of Interventional Cardiology

On 12 & 13 September 2025, Bahrain hosted a landmark gathering in interventional cardiology as COMPedge 2025 successfully merged Complications, Imaging, and Physiology into one impactful platform. Proudly organized by the Gulf Intervention Society (GIS) and the Gulf Heart Association (GHA), and expertly managed by ICOM Group, the 1st edition of the GIS COMPedge and the 4th edition of the Complications Cases Show united more than 720 registered participants from across the Middle East, Gulf, and North Africa.
What happens when science meets collaboration? The answer was written on every stage, every session, and every case at COMPedge 2025.
By the Numbers :
- 720 participants registered from across the Region & Middle East.
- 50+ world-class faculty, moderators & panelists.
- 16 sessions spanning complications, imaging, physiology, and diagnostic debates.
- 12 CME hours accredited by EBAC.

Sessions & Scientific Highlights
Day 1: Complications Cases Show
Interactive sessions on coronary perforation, stent loss, CTO complications, cardiogenic shock, and vascular access challenges. Real-world cases, shared openly by regional experts, provided lessons in managing the most complex scenarios in interventional cardiology.
Day 2: Imaging & Physiology
Integrated diagnostic case series, cath lab debates, and discussions on OCT, IVUS, and the growing role of AI in imaging positioned COMPedge as a future-focused hub for cardiovascular education. The flow of sessions and seamless delegate experience reflected ICOM Group’s expertise in designing impactful medical congress programs.

Voices that Inspired
Dr. Fawaz Almutairi – GIS President
“This year’s distinguished program stood on two main pillars: presenting complication cases and advancing imaging and physiology sciences. Together, these created a complete scientific program that blended academic depth with practical innovation.”
Dr. Abdullah Shehab – Vice President
“The dedicated CVP program confirmed the vital role of nurses and technicians in interventional cardiology. Their interaction in the sessions highlighted how teamwork across specialties is crucial for the success of complex interventions.”
Dr. Mousa Akbar – General Secretary
“The goal of the Complication Cases Show is not only to present complex cases but also to create a collaborative space for reflection and discussion. Despite the challenges, these cases provide invaluable lessons to enhance practices and improve decision-making for physicians worldwide.”
Dr. Khalid Bin Thani – Treasurer
“The Imaging & Physiology Program brought together the latest diagnostic tools and highest clinical practices — including FFR, iFR, OCT, and IVUS. It emphasized the essential role of imaging in guiding treatments and elevating patient outcomes in daily practice.”
Four voices, one mission: a shared commitment to raise the bar of interventional cardiology in the Gulf and beyond — supported by the professional event expertise of ICOM.
A Salute to Teamwork
The event also recognized the contributions of the scientific committee and the CVP program participants, whose dedication and insights elevated the congress. From technicians to top professors, every contribution played a role in making COMPedge a model of collaboration.
Behind the scenes, ICOM Group ensured that every aspect — from logistics and delegate services to protocol and production — ran to international congress standards.
Why COMPedge Matters
With the honorable presence of H.E. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain, COMPedge showcased the Kingdom’s growing role as a regional hub for advanced cardiovascular education and collaboration.
Beyond the science, the congress reflected a larger story — how the Gulf region is increasingly capable of hosting international-standard medical gatherings.
With nearly three decades of experience, ICOM Group’s role in delivering these types of medical conferences reinforces its position as a trusted partner for medical societies and associations across the region.
Looking Ahead
In Bahrain, science didn’t just meet knowledge — it shaped the future of cardiology. COMPedge 2025 will be remembered not only for its rich scientific content but also as a benchmark for how collaboration, expertise, and flawless organization can inspire the medical community.
The conversation doesn’t end here. The success of COMPedge proves one thing: when the region comes together, innovation follows.
ICOM Group remains committed to supporting medical societies and institutions in creating world-class events that advance science, education, and collaboration across the Gulf and beyond.
